Al Barr apologised for his comment. And I think that’s very kind of him. So..to all those people who felt offended yesterday… there’s no need to be pissed anymore. Sláinte!
“hey everybody -
al barr here - i just wanted to address the negative comment that i made. first off, i’d like to apologize for using the term that i did. by no means did i intend for it to cause any hurt or harm, i now fully realize how insensitive it was.
having grown up within a very diverse punk scene, i have many gay friends. i would never want to hurt anyone’s feelings with my comments.
i did not mean anything by this and now understand it is a word that i should not have used and will not use in the future. please accept my sincere apologies.
my band and i are any anything but homophobic and our 16 year track record proves that we stand up for human rights and fight against injustices towards all people.
thanks for your time and support, and again, please accept my sincere apologies. “
Well, there was this video (I think it has been deleted) about a show or a festival or something. Anyway, at the end of the video Al said
“…so don’t be a faggot. Go there, motherfuckers!” and it offended some people.
However, Al already apologised on facebook:

Yep. I have to agree with you! He didn’t insult anyone for being gay.
this is a disgrace to all motherfuckers and mother-fucking around the world, we seriously need to do something about this… there will be a DMK burning at my house around 8
Exactly! Nothing more to add! Dropkick Murphys all the way!
I understand your point and I am not going to lie: I also used words like those. Especially when I didn’t think enough. But that doesn’t make me a homophobic person (so that doesn’t make Al Barr homophobic either).
As well as you, I support gay rights and I am pro gay marriage.
I absolutely have to agree with you! As I said before, I think he should have choosen a better language.
If anyone stops listening to DKM now I couldn’t understand it at all, because you can’t just judge a whole band for a mistake a single bandmember made.
Anyway…Yeah…It would be necessary for him to apologise and to clear things up, but I also think it’s very rude, if people post the video and tag it with “asshole”.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not homophobic or racist at all! As soon as someone is homophobic or something I get really angry, because that is just not acceptable.

Seriously? Thats worth kicking up storm about? Not really mate
I don’t get the drama about that.
He didn’t say anything about gay people, he didn’t insult anyone, he didn’t lose a word about gay people, gay right, gay marriage. In my opinion he’s not homophobic, but yeah.
And I love the title… “Some one from a punk band said a rude word” :D
